Who We Are

Beacon of Hope Champions Ministries, LLC was founded by Dr. Twanna House in September 2014 and relaunched in November 2022. It is a ministry dedicated to creating awareness, education, and a safe space for honesty, empowerment, and balance to achieve emotional and mental wellness essential for spiritual growth. Our main focus is to assist faith leaders and communities to ensure ministry to the whole person, based on biblical principles and mental health best practices. Beacon of Hope Champions serves as an educational resource and a safe space to help those on their journey of life-long healing.

OUR FOUNDER

A Survivor with a Purpose.

Dr. Twanna House

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.  Habakkuk 2:1-3

Survivor, Leader, Entrepreneur, Advocate, Educator, and Mother are some of the roles Dr. Twanna House has as she pursues to her passion and purpose to make a difference in the community and the world. She says that her purpose is to “bridge the gap between the church and mental health community to further ministry to the whole person, not just in part.”  With that focus, Dr. House believes she possesses the driving force and remarkable wisdom for her success and for everyone and everything connected to her to succeed as well.

Dr. House was born in Milton, Florida and then adopted by the late Rev. Henderson Powell, Jr. and Essie (Savage) Powell. She overcame a lot of personal struggles in her childhood including a speech impediment, a facial deformity, suicide attempts, and mental illness. She is a survivor of severe depression after a 30-year battle. She was diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) as an adult. Through the healing process of counseling, treatment, and moral support, she continues to live a healthy life in recovery ever since.

Dr. House pursued her education by receiving her Bachelors of Arts in Communications from University of West Florida in 1997. Then in 2015, she attained her Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Troy University. She has worked in the Human Resources field for over 23 years.

Dr. House accepted her call to the ministry of the gospel in 2006, as a member of Deliverance Tabernacle Christian Center under the leadership of Bishop Charles Young. She continued her ministry training as a member of Love and Faith Ministries in Tallahassee, FL under the leadership of Pastor Lamar Simmons. After relocating to Pensacola in 2010, she was ordained an Evangelist at Christ Centered Conference Church. In 2011, she was elevated to the office of Elder, and then Pastor in 2021 under the Followers of Jesus Christ Fellowship of Churches, where she also served as Secretary General. She also received her Doctor of Ministry degree in Biblical Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary in May 2020. Dr. House is a true example of a virtuous woman and maintains a spirit of excellence. She teaches the Word of God in a relevant manner that can be applied to everyday life.

Dr. House is also an entrepreneur as the owner of Elect Lady Designs, a brand management and Human Resources Consulting company. She is the  Program Leader of National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) both NAMI Emerald Coast and NAMI Florida, and a Certified Adult Mental Health First Aider.  She is also the Founder/CEO of Beacon of Hope Champions Ministries, LLC, an organization devoted to creating awareness about emotional and mental wellness being essential to spiritual growth, providing education to properly equip Pastors, leaders, and caring citizens in ministering to congregants dealing with mental health issues, advocacy for people who are not able to access the treatment for mental illness, and to provide a safe space for support for people without judgement.

Dr. House is the loving mother of son, Josiah House, godson Zephaniah Devlin, and a spiritual mother to several sons and daughters in the gospel.  In all, she is very humbled for everything that God has graciously afforded her and has been allowed to experience in life.
